Worthwhile Bio on The Kinks Just finished reading this book and as a long time Kinks fan it was certainly an interesting read. It is the first biography of the Kinks that really delves into the post-60's history and it does it via interviews with the many ex-band members from the 1970's (and if anyone follows the Kinks you know there were many during that era). The reader does learn things you would never learn reading a R. "One For The Bookshelf" according to The Maestro. God Save The Kinks is a reasonably good biography with the author interviewing band members and those connected to the band and using various books and articles as source material. As one who is a great fan of the band and in particular Ray Davies I found this to be worth the read. Has black and white and colour photographs taking us up to 2012, a useful index and discography which has caused me. Worthy J. Ray and Dave were born into a deeply musical working-class family in London's Muswell Hill, a city recovering from the bombs and privations of the Second World War. The Kinks released their third single in August 1964. Followed by a string of hits, it marked the breakthrough of one of Britain's most innovative and influential bands, and a turning point in the fortunes of two brothers whose troubled story is as tumultuous and characterful as the music they produced: Ray and Dave Davies. Poked by sibling rivalry, furious on-stage violence, walkouts, overdoses, a career-throttling ban from the US, gross self-ind
