But that's because it was a new direction for the singer and TV star (The Glen Campbell Show,; The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour)who had scored the mega-hit with "Gentle on my Mind". It was a few years later when the "newgrass "revival took over the airwaves, especially with rise of FM radio, that the album took on cult status. Even today some original vinyl versions of the Lp b. Poorly Edited Poorly Edited I was glad to see a nice, glossy, almost coffee-table sized book available about one of my favorite albums of all time. The book has some beautiful and interesting pictures but the content is very poorly edited. Some pictures either have the wrong captions, or no captions at all. The book ends abruptly without explaining much about John's life after Aereoplane. Statements are repeated two and three times. All in all, it shows poor attention to detail. I doubt John Hartford would have appreciated the mediocre effort.. "Rare photos, but text needed much tighter editing" according to catfan9001. Lots of interesting period photos I had never seen, with a pretty good narrative of Hartford's early career and how "Aero-Plain" came together. A little disappointing in that his later career is barely addressed, and the book suffers from numerous typos and sloppy editing. I have not yet listened to the accompanying audio CD.
