Michael Chabon's recent fictional history on the comic book pioneers may have been beautifully written but this book is utterly fascinating. People may think that Jones is rehashing events that are `well known' within the annals of comics history but the author does a masterful job of placing this subject within the broader context of popular culture and for that matter, 20th century America.
