This award-winning graphic biography of Pablo Picasso (1881–1973) captures the prolific and eventful life of one of the world’s best-loved artists. Pablo explores Picasso’s early life among the bohemians of Montmartre, his turbulent relationship with artist/model Fernande Olivier, and how his art developed through friendshipswith poets Max Jacob and Guillaume Apollinaire, the painter Georges Braque, and his great rival Henri Matisse. Julie Birmant and Clément Oubrerie depict a career that began in poverty and reached its climax with the advent of cubism and modern art.

“Birmant’s Picasso is a furiously determined protagonist full of palpable jealousy and ego, his actions punctuated by Mr. Oubrerie’s loose and frenetic drawing style.”

"Beautiful and interesting" according to Tokiwa. JH said Picasso and his friends and enemies make for a great autobiographical comic. All the eccentricities of Picasso and his friends and enemies make for a great autobiographical comic. The art is beautifully drawn and the book itself smells like a studio after an extensive charcoal-drawing session, so it's quite an immersive experience. I had a great time reading this.. "Some Art, Much Sex" according to Sandy Tolliver. Nice portrayals of Appollonaire, Max Jacob, and Gertrude Stein. But WAY too much focus on sex, at the expense of depicting the creation of art. I ended up confused as to who the intended audience was supposed to be.
