So, at the recommendation of a private instructor which I recently engaged, I obtained this book. It has been very helpful in my "relearning" process. It contains the tune "Lightly Row," the very first melody I learned to play on the flute over five decades ago.I recommend this book for a beginning flute player, or for anyone in a position similar to mine.. !) years ago. The book you'll love to hate S. Patterson I hated this book in highschool.A lot of the music in it is specifically written to trip you up. For a play-it-by-ear sort like me, I'd just be getting into a melody when it would throw a curve ball and I really didn't understand the concept of thirds, chords, or why playing the same song in several different keys was valuable.Relearning to play the flute as an adult who has studied guitar, I now have a much better understanding of this book and can appreciate the quality and cleverness of the exercises.The lessons in this book are designed to pack a l. Oldie but a goodie AMuses I used this book back in the 70s when I first took flute lessons. It's held up well over time and it's been a great review as I get back into it.
