Smorgasbord of Macabre Glamour I found this book fascinating and chock- full of little known details. One aspect of the tales is how similar many of them seem to be, yet they're all unique. The common link is exploitation by a grinding industry, the strain for steady work, and making it, only to achieve fame and huge fortunes in some cases, the ensuing emotional stress calling for self medication. I found the rather chatty, personal style of the narrative to be a cozy antidote to . "Meh!" according to Margaret Krynicki. Meh. I thought it was okay, but several things were missed (e.g., the relationship between Valentino and the murder of Ramon Navarro). Also, stop editorializing in some areas and please, learn to spell or edit. Pictures included were very good but overall disappointing.
