Born in 1921 in Pretare, Italy, Caponi immigrated to the U.S. Caponi became a professor at Macalester College in 1949, and was the art dept. . in 1936 where he went on to study at Cleveland School of Art and receive his B.S. and M.Ed from the U. of Minnesota. head from 1954 to 1991. He is currently the artistic director at the Caponi Art Park and Learning Center, which features 63 acres of sculptures
