My Hero Breaks My Heart When I was 11 and dreamed of becoming a professional cartoonist, I wrote to Al Capp and he responded with a lengthy, wise and beautifully written letter. What a disappointment to find out he was a mean, petty, vindictive and eventually disgusting person. This well-written and revealing book is the first biography of Al Capp, who has otherwise been largely forgotten. Highly recommended for any former fans of "Li'l Abner," also largely forgotten.
