On stage, Greer recently made her Broadway debut in Dead Accounts. No stranger to the small screen, she stars in the sitcom Married, voices a character on the cult hit Archer, and can also be seen in Arrested Development. Judy Greer was born in Detroit and studied at The Theatre School, DePaul University's prestigious theater conserva

Light but entertaining look at one woman's road in Hollywood I know Greer from quite a lot, and there's a pretty good chance you do, too - she's been appearing in television and films since at least 1997 and in the past 10 years has been in some big ones. She always stands out to me (in a good way), so I was quite pleased to have a chance to read and review her memoir. I like memoirs; I like Greer - good combination.Memoirs, of course, come in varying types. There are the earth-changing ones that talk about Really Important Stuff, where people reveal the highly. A Good Snappy Read! As a huge movie and TV buff I have been watching Judy for years, happy to see her in a project but not knowing who she was. She strengthens the projects she is in, like having Ben Johnson in a John Wayne western. I liked her turn on "Three and Half Men" (where she out Charlie'd Charlie) as well as her movie work, considering that project vintage Judy Greer. The book is similar. Judy is a refreshingly honest, self-deprecating, and totally relatable guide to Hollywood life, speaking candidly about what it’s really like to shoot on location, to go to the Oscars, and to feel like you’re building a tortoise career in a town full of hares.    Beneath the Spanx, Judy is like the best friend you've always wanted. This is Judy Greer’s story, from her self-described childhood as “Ugly Judy” in suburban Detroit-ish, Michigan, to trying out for drama school to get even with her frenemy, and then breaking into movies as the ultimate best friend. She chills out with her giant, gassy bulldog, Buckley; meets the love of her life on a blind date; happily dives into being a stepparent; and through it all maintains an unshakeable belief in the restorative power of a late-night drugstore run.

The title comes from the question Greer is often asked by people who approach her, knowing they have seen her somewhere, but they can’t recall the movie or TV show they saw her in. Greer also shares her hilarious trip to the Oscars for The Descendants, which involved her dress unraveling and her initially being unable to find anyone to talk to before the ceremony. --Kristine Huntley . Greer’s bubbly best-friend personality and self-deprecating anecdotes will have readers rooting for her, and will likely win her new fans. From Booklist Greer, who has had a good deal of success as a working actress in movies, including 13 Going on 30 and The Wedding Planner, as well as a memorable recurring role in the TV series Arrested Development, is a recognized face if not quite a household name.
