"Joyce's Memories" according to Priscilla A. Kaua. I have the honor of personally knowing Joyce Jackson for about a year now. To hear her tell a story of the "old" days is great! These are Joyce's personal memories of Mr. Reeves and of all the other people that she's met through out her life. Name dropping? I don't think so. Friends, relatives and acquaintances, yes. I have read this book and I've enjoyed every part of it. I smiled and tried to imagine being there. Congratulations.. George Spear said My Memories of Joyce & The Reeves. Grew to be a fan of Jim a couple of years after his tragic death. The voice, the mournful music and lyrics were a perfect fit for a young teenager headed to Vietnam, like me. 'Distant Drums' wasn't just a song, it was the experience of thousands of young men, like me. As an infantry Marine, I carried his songs on a small portable reel-to-reel player in my haversack. A used & broken up combat radio battery provided sufficient power to keep the music playing. I still have one of those music reels in my attic. What I didn't have was much information about my favorite singer. Through th. "My Memories of Jim Reeves And Other Celebrities" according to Mr. David John Cole. An excellent read. An exiting look at these Country stars from an insiders view. Joyce writes from the heart. Especially interesting was her take on The Late Great Gentleman Jim Reeves and how she related to him as his personal secretary.It seems like it's a small industry with everyone in the Country Music scene at that time knowing everybody else!Very interesting. Thank you Joyce for sharing.
