Ryan Mckaig said Five Stars. Great account of the Raleigh music scene and the rise of Ryan Adams, filled with amazing behind-the-scenes stories.. Well-written history of a seminal Americana band, warts and all. The author had a ringside seat to the rise (and fall) of Whiskeytown, one of Americana’s most influential bands. Because with Whiskeytown, you never quite knew what you were going to. Great take on a controversial talent I think that whoever wrote the new book Social Work: A Novel must have read this great book first. It has a fictional character named Bryan Jones who seems to have lived the same early life that Adams did.

"packed with tales of magical performances and utterly desperate train wrecks."
