Hard to Put it Down I'm a big fan of these rock star "day by day" books; there are great ones out on Hendrix, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Kinks, and perhaps a few others. It's heartening that true fans care enough to compile all this lost or forgotten info. What makes them fascinating is seeing an artist's career evolve from early struggle through their first success, and then seeing the difficulties of maintaining a career and keeping up the enthusiasm and commitment. In The Ultimate Experience, you can see where Jimi Hendrix began to become overworked and cynical, the band began to fr. THE MOST INFORMATIVE GUIDE TO THE BYRDS I honestly had misgivings about purchasing this book; I'm halfway throughit and I must admit, it was worth every penny. Mr. Hjort has ammassed an amazing amount of behind the scenes information - it really fills in the blanks in my mind to explain what was going on with the Byrds. It's been awhile since I read Mr. Rogan's book, but I've learned much more by reading this day-by-day book. I highly recommend it. The photos, too, are worth the price. I believe Mr. Hjort has interviewed many more folks than Mr. Rogan. Again, highly recommended by a card-carrying member of the
