Queen of the Canyon Nina Bennett Fiegel provides a richly detailed look at the contradiction that was Cass Elliott. Contradiction because although Cass achieved the fame she dreamed of since chidhood,she never found the love she longed for. Her public persona was that of a happy rock star, but Fiegel explores Cass's demons of weight and substance abuse, taking care not to get caught in romanticizing the latter as part of the 60s. She had cooperation from many of Cass's friends and musical colleagues, who unanimously told Fiegel that Cass . Great book! Mama Cass Rules! Ashley Love love love this book. Very well written and interesting. Once I started reading I couldnt put it down! Definitely worth buying :-). "Although it seems that Eddi Fiegel has done many interviews" according to kirsten gygi. Although it seems that Eddi Fiegel has done many interviews and much research, I have a hard time with the amount of speculation on the social and emotional growth and choices of Cass Elliot. The historical references are helpful and the information given in interviews by her family and friends seem to stay closer to the truth than the guesswork that Eddi comes up with in the book. I am uncomfortable with an author who draws so many unsubstantiated conclusions.
