Fine book. John H. Chaffer Fine bookwish just a little more detail and back story had been done on Linda Ronstadt and her several backing bands. One of the great pointers of country rock that she worked with wax the band " Swampwater"look it up on WikipediaAnd my understanding the mighty Clarence White the awesome guitarist was killed by a drunk women driver not a truckNo big deal!on this but I like all the story and correct facts.. Not for me. I was disappointed. The writing was choppy and there were time when the commentary bounced back and forth in time. It felt like the author was just taking his story from notes in a pile with little organization. The ending was abrupt. No pictures of the artists in time or mentioned. I ended up doing my own research on artists alive or gone to be able to hang this book together.. Jumping right in with little introduction, Hoskyns relays the particulars of the burgeoning scene that drew sensitive musicians west from Greenwich Village, limning the differences between those who lived in Topanga and Laurel Canyons and detailing the explosive shocks to their insular world (like the Monterey Pop festival and the Manson murders), all leading up to the cash-register mentality that formed the Eagles. The cast is robus
