Gaylen H. Laing said A pleasure to read.. Beautifully written memoir in a very well designed book. I was somewhat disappointed in the quality of the black and white photos of the projects. I felt the photos did not adequately represent the warmth, texture and materiality of the fine work that I have personally seen throughout the years from this iconic architect. Thoroughly enjoyable. For architects and architecture lovers outside the Dallas area, who don't know Mr. Welch, I can't recommend this book highly enough. Full disclosure here: I know Mr. Welch slightly and I adore him, so I come from a prejudiced opinion. But I couldn't put the book down. This is a well-written book by a man who has known more. Ellen Turner said Loved this book. I had the privilege of knowing Frank Welch when he lived in Midland and built a home for my employer (Walter Walne). When I saw his name on the cover I knew I would buy this book. Brings back memories of days gone by -- good memories.
